(Senior) Permit Consultant

As a (Senior) Permit Consultant, you will determine what is needed to integrate new nuclear initiatives.

NRG is the largest provider of nuclear services in the Netherlands. Our driving forces are continuous energy supply, a cleaner environment, and better health. Our unit, Consultancy & Services, consists of specialized technical services in the areas of risk, safety, and optimization of operations in the nuclear and conventional industries. We are located in Arnhem and Petten.

What Will You Do?

The Netherlands faces the challenge of making its energy system CO2-neutral. In addition to solar and wind power, the country is also investing in nuclear energy. There are plans to build two new nuclear power plants, and there is increasing discussion about adding smaller modular reactors (SMRs).

These new reactors need to be integrated: they must comply with Dutch, European, and local regulations. This integration is encapsulated in a permit, a complex document resulting from a process involving provinces, municipalities, water boards, local residents, and other stakeholders. As a (Senior) Permit Consultant, you will determine what is needed to integrate new nuclear initiatives. This role demands a multidisciplinary perspective and attention to detail.

Profile:

  • A completed HBO or WO degree, preferably in environmental studies or a technical field.
  • Several years of work experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Environmental Law (Omgevingswet).
  • A positive attitude towards nuclear energy and a desire to contribute to the development of Dutch nuclear energy with your knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to clearly present and report ideas.
  • A team player.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

What We Offer:

  • A market-competitive salary depending on experience and education.
  • Extensive secondary benefits, including a pension scheme, travel allowance, and training opportunities.
  • Flexible working hours and the possibility to work partially from home.
  • A dynamic and innovative work environment with ample opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • Career advancement opportunities within a growing company.
  • Participation in groundbreaking projects in nuclear new build and energy transition.

Team:

You will work within the new Nuclear New Build team, focusing on facilitating nuclear construction projects. The team collaborates closely with other expertise teams within NRG. As a Permit Consultant, you and a team of experts will identify the effects and risks associated with new developments. You will investigate the frameworks for a particular development, determine the approach, and coordinate the necessary studies. You will be involved in all stages of a project, from the proposal to execution and evaluation with the client.

What We Are Looking For:

We seek an experienced candidate who has been involved in projects from the start. You have extensive experience with permit processes for conventional projects and are accustomed to applying broad knowledge. You are interested in nuclear energy and eager to contribute to new nuclear initiatives. You have strong communication skills and enjoy connecting different parties.

Interested?

Do you see yourself in this profile and want to contribute to making the Dutch energy system sustainable and future-proof? We would love to hear from you!
